Digital Skills Academy
What we will do and why
Introduction of a portfolio of digital apprenticeship programmes to both facilitate the development of grassroots digital capabilities and upskilling of existing staff, increasing digital and data competency and literacy across the organisation.
Key Deliverables
- A range of standard digital apprenticeship programmes from Level 3 to Level 7, available to internal staff, funded through the Apprenticeship Levy.
Target outcomes
- Individuals across the organisation competent and qualified in a range of contemporary digital capabilities necessary to fulfil current and future business requirements
Measures of success
- Extent to which digital services and products are designed, delivered and implemented in-house
- Extent of digital literacy and competence across the organisation
Stakeholder Engagement
We engaged numerous training providers through the tender process to understand their available capabilities to ensure the widest breadth of coverage, arriving at the current seventeen offered. Employees registered their interest in the different skills, behaviours and roles available. We then held sessions on each of the available standards with employees for an overview and to take questions.

CommsConnect
CommsConnect aims to address the increased interdependency between electricity networks and mobile networks as communications for control of assets on networks more towards the public mobile networks. The project aims to set up a data sharing solution whereby electricity network operators and mobile network operators can share data on the intercedence of their assets and make decisions on where best to make investments in network resilience This project is funded through the Strategic Innovation Fund, which works in three phases. If successful for a subsequent phase then the end date and other details will change.

Enhanced contractor work planning and exchange of data across multiple workstreams through the use of intelligent resource scheduling and management software.
