Short-Term Forecasting Platform
What we will do and why
Develop and evolve short-term forecasting tools/models to predict load, generation, network constraint and load related network intervention requirements across different voltage levels and operational timescales.
Key deliverables
- Forecasting curtailment publicly released
- Forecasting for Flexibility Services dispatch platform available in DSO control room
- Forecasting Dynamic Outage Management platform available in DSO control room
- Forecasting for Day Ahead Flex Procurement available for use in DSO control room and dispatch team

Stakeholder Engagement
Engaged with DER customers via email for curtailment forecasting. Day ahead forecast for flexibility markets to be communicated as early 2024 at flexibility forums.

CommsConnect
CommsConnect aims to address the increased interdependency between electricity networks and mobile networks as communications for control of assets on networks more towards the public mobile networks. The project aims to set up a data sharing solution whereby electricity network operators and mobile network operators can share data on the intercedence of their assets and make decisions on where best to make investments in network resilience This project is funded through the Strategic Innovation Fund, which works in three phases. If successful for a subsequent phase then the end date and other details will change.

Trinity
Working with GE, PNDC and SSEN to explore the use of control room simulations to improve network resilience. The project will look to leverage existing approaches used in the generation and transmission sectors, applying the unique operational and commercial scenarios applicable to distribution environments.
