What we will do and why

Development and implementation of an extensible geospatial analytics platform, replacing multiple legacy applications to provide a platform for servicing internal and external use cases, along with controlled third party access to geospatial network records.

Key deliverables

  • Geospatial Analytics Platform.
  • Migration of legacy geospatial analytics use cases.
  • Development of new geospatial analytics use cases.

Target outcomes

  • Rationalisation of legacy geospatial analytics tools and interfaces.
  • Provision of advanced geospatial analytics functionality.
  • Delivery of new advanced geospatial analytics use cases.
  • Increased third party access to geospatial network records.

Measures of success

  • Successful migration of legacy use-cases to new platform.
  • Facilitation of new geo-analytics use cases and corresponding value realisation.
  • Registrations for controlled third party access to geospatial network records.
  • Increase in customer satisfaction.

Stakeholder Engagement

Through engagement with stakeholders from across the business, we have identified specific areas of interest for geospatial analysis such as fluid filled cable replacement, noise layer visualisation and environmental sensitivity. For the migration to the new ESRI GSA application, we have engaged stakeholders to prioritise use cases into work packs, with around 6 use cases in each.

Planned start:

06.01.2023

Target completion:

01.12.2024

Key milestones:

  • Data Migration to Azure geospatial database (Sep 2023)
  • Phase 1 Platform implementation (May 2024)
  • Phase 2 Set 1 Use case migration (Jul 2024)
  • Phase 2 Set 2 Use case migration (Sep 2024)
  • Phase 2 Set 3 Use case migration (Dec 2024)
  • Phase 2 Set 4 Use case migration (Dec 2024)
  • Transfer to BAU implementation and ongoing new use case delivery (Jun - 2024)

Date of change Category Description
28.06.2024 Update

Overall project is on track despite Phase 1 Platform Implementation milestone’s got completed later than planned because of technical issues with the product that had to be escalated to ESRI Inc in the USA for resolution as well as poor project management by the Supplier.
Phase 2 Use case migration milestone got divided into 4 separate sets to get better visibility over the Milestone delivery date.
